License — Free to Use, Built to Spread

Everything on this site is a free resource. The content is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0).

What you may do — without asking permission

  • Share it: copy, print, email, post, and redistribute any page, in any medium
  • Adapt it: excerpt, remix, translate, build lesson plans and handouts from it
  • Use it anywhere: classrooms, congregations, community groups, publications, campus organizations — including commercially

The two conditions

  1. Attribution. Credit this site and link back. A simple line is enough:

  2. ShareAlike. If you adapt the material, your adapted version must carry this same license — so the resource stays free downstream, for everyone.

What we ask (not legally required, but it matters)

  • Keep the confidence tags. The inline tags — [VERIFIED via ...], [ESTIMATED ...], [PARTIALLY DISPUTED ...] — are the point of this project. Material stripped of its calibration stops being what this site is.
  • Keep the dates on current figures. Casualty counts and demographic data are stated as of specific dates; reproducing them without the dates turns honest data into future misinformation.
  • Tell us. If you translate or adapt this material, let us know — we'd like to link to good adaptations.

Corrections and challenges

Reuse includes the right to scrutinize. If you find a claim that fails its tag, report it via Suggest a Topic — corrections are logged, not buried. That process is part of the license's spirit: this material is offered as checkable, and checking it is a contribution.

The site's source code (the search, Q&A, and site machinery) is available in the project repository under a permissive open-source license. The license above covers the content — the documents, FAQ pages, and analyses.
